Backstory:Nocturne has a tormented past, which continues to influence him throughout his lifetime. Nocturne is but one of many aliases used by Alex Cross. Cross is a career foreign service officer and a specialist in Far Eastern affairs. Before the events of New York Cross had a Colombian wife named Camila and two children named John and Mary in Bogota, the capital of Colombia. Cross's wife and two children were inadvertently killed during the reign of Pablo Escobar when a plane carried explosives into the air, exploded and took over 200 lives over the skies of Colombia. However, unknown to Nocturne, John survived. Due to Colombia's neutrality in the drug war, the Government did not see to take action against one of the most dangerous drug cartels alive.. Having nothing left to live for, Cross went to Rio de Janeiro, Brasil and Camp Mackall, North Carolina, under the careful guidance of David Webb, ended up training for an elite Top Secret Special Forces unit called S.H.I.E.L.D. Within that select organization Cross was known only by his code name, Nocturne. Once his training was complete, Nocturne was deployed as a highly-trained covert assassin for a variety of missions all involving lethal action. He completed his missions mechanically, without knowledge of his subjects' identities or the crimes they had allegedly committed. On a job in France, he had a sudden attack of conscience when he saw his target in the company of his children. Cross aborted his mission, and was shot in the back twice while attempting to escape. He awakens with his memory gone. S.H.I.E.L.D was able to locate Cross and re-train him for what was in-store for S.H.I.E.L.D.'s future, the future of Super Heroes that was. Due to his high scores on his tests and his constant work ethic and expert skill remaining after his incident, Cross was promoted to S.H.I.E.L.D Director, running operations with S.H.I.E.L.D for 3 years now. 7 Years earlier in the battle of New York, Alex saw what S.H.I.E.L.D was preparing him for, attack from extra-terrestrials. How we fought back? Our own. Now Cross's mission is to keep Earth safe from those threats of the outer world, with the help of Jacob Stark, Trent Washington and the Avengers, nothing would've been possible.
